Gellie Jam: printmaking with gel plates SESSION TWO

Gellie Jam: printmaking with gel plates SESSION TWO - Open to all levels

The Gellie Jam sessions ONE & TWO cover different techniques and result in different finished take home pieces. In both four week sessions, students will learn the fundamentals of printmaking with gel plates and quickly move into more intentional, layered compositions. The process is user-friendly and immensely satisfying. Gel plates and brayers are provided; these are yours to take home at the end of the class. On the last day of Session TWO we will also provide two cradled wooden panels

for use in mounting your finished prints.

Week One: gel plate info and care, work station set up, bring your questions! We will discuss paper choices, simple registration techniques. We will start by printing with subtractive techniques using your found objects! (If you were in Session ONE, bring back all the tools you made)

Week Two: Experiment with image transfers, using your own laser copied images and found magazine images with your gel plate

Week Three: Print on with transparent papers, layering your prints off the plate, rip, edit augment! Continue to print and over-print.

Week Four: Continue printing, and over-printing existing prints, cross-pollenating techniques, additional mark making  ideas, we will select two prints adhere them to wood panels, and take home finished art. Two small cradled panels will be provided.

Victoria mixes media—combining encaustic medium, cold wax, oil paint, printmaking or photography in a variety of ways. Her art contains intended imperfections—lopsided rounds, rough sgrafitto lines, uneven repetition, organic shapes and the occasional recognizable object. She believes the inevitable human inconsistencies connect the artist and the viewer.

Victoria’s work hangs in private and corporate art collections and has been included in over 60 exhibitions. Her practice has received multiple awards and recognition. She is a long time member of the MIX co-op, her works can been seen at Niza Knoll Gallery, Gallery 1261, and Framed Image Gallery in Denver and online at VictoriaEubanksArt.com.
