Principles of Abstraction: Gestural Still Life Drawing

This class explores drawing through an abstract, playful approach. We will use observation as a foundation while interpreting form in a more intuitive, organic way. Through a series of charcoal drawing exercises, we will transform still-life objects into more surreal compositions.
- Some drawing experience preferred but not required.
- Newsprint paper or drawing paper - 24 x 18 inch
- Drawing board - 24 x 18 inch (roughly)
- Vine or willow Charcoal sticks
- Soft Pastels
- Kneaded rubber eraser
- Spray fixative (not to be used in class)
- Rag or towel
