Students will create prints using a 6x6" gelatin plate, and their own selection of plant material. We will use open acrylic paint as our ink and create designs with leaves, blooms, roots etc, transferring their natural textures and shapes onto an assortment of papers. Students will be guided through specific steps to create various outcomes. The process is user-friendly, fun and immensely satisfying.
Day One will include:
Designing with plant material
Printing on gellie plate
Placement for successful printing
Layering shapes and color
Using transparent and opaque paints
Easy registration techniques
Over printing
Characteristics of various papers
Cleaning gel plates and tools
Prepping two wood panels
On Day Two:
Students will make a cropping mask
Use the masking tool to select favorite prints
Adhere two prints onto wood panels.
Students will have a choice of three finishing top coats.
Everyone will take home two finished art pieces, well as a big stack of prints.
