IMPORTANT: This link is to register and pay for *2 Weeks* (4 total days of workshops) of the Summer Workshop Series Foundational Course. All participants take Week 1: Brain Compatible Dance Education and BrainDance Foundations (July 8+10). There are 3 additional weeks to choose from, divided into tracks for specific ages. You may add Week 2: Early Childhood (July 15+17), Week 3: Elementary School (July 22+24), or Week 4: Middle/High School/Adult (July 29+31). If you want to register for more than 2 weeks total, please return to the registration page on our website and choose the link for 3 Weeks ($575) or 4 Weeks ($725). Gain confidence in combining the mastery of movement with the artistry of expression. The Foundational Course is a series of workshops to provide participants with the tools needed to create meaningful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate dance curricula for all ages and abilities. Anne Green Gilbert’s teaching methodology joyfully celebrates and nurtures creativity, self expression, collaboration, and community. The Foundational Course is lead by Creative Dance Center and Kaleidoscope Dance Company Founder, renowned dance educator, and author Anne Green Gilbert with New York City based dance educator Dionne Kamara. Guest faculty includes CDC Director Terry Goetz and Kaleidoscope Dance Company Director Anna Mansbridge.

Green Gilbert, Anne

Anne Green Gilbert (she/her), MAT, is Founding Director of the Creative Dance Center (CDC), Kaleidoscope Dance Company, and Summer Dance Institute for Teachers in Seattle. Anne is a master teacher, choreographer, and author. She presented hundreds of workshops for children and adults across the USA and abroad, conducted professional development courses through Lesley University, University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University, and taught classes for all ages at CDC for over thirty years. She is the author of 5 dance textbooks, 2 instructional DVDs, and numerous published articles. Anne was first Chair of dance and the Child USA and Dance Educators Association of Washington. Her awards include the 2005 National Dance Association Scholar/Artist Award, 2011 National Dance Education Organization Lifetime Achievement Award, Lawrence Tenney Stevens American Dance Award in 2014 for her work with boys and men in dance, and American Dance Festival Balasaraswati/Joy Ann Dewey Beinecke Endowed Chair for Distinguished Teaching in 2016.

Kamara, Dionne

Dionne Kamara (she/her), a former member of Urban Bush Women performance company, is currently a resident teaching artist in New York City. Dionne teaches creative dance integrating academic curriculum to children in public schools, enabling them to express their thoughts and ideas through the art of dance. She has taught creative and traditional West African dance in schools, community centers and cultural institutions in the New York metropolitan area for many years and also teaches creative dance to infants through adults in several NYC studios. Dionne has been an SDIT faculty member since 2003.
