Explore dance styles from the vibrant culture of Hip Hop, through the lens of the dance concepts. Dancers develop their own voice while learning the history of Hip Hop dance and culture. Movement vocabulary from breaking, locking, popping, commercial/new style, and House dance. We also create art inspired by Hip Hop culture!

If CDC guidelines and Covid protocols allow, dancers share their creativity with family in an informal presentation on the last day of camp.

  • Clothing: Dress for comfort and ease of movement. Dance clothes such as leotards, footless tights, sweatpants/shorts, leggings, t-shirts, dance skirts, etc. Students dance in bare feet.
Jackson, Kechelle

Kechelle Jackson (she/her), a Seattle native, has a background in dance, sports, and music, which led to an enriching career in youth services and Early Childhood Education. In 2013 Kechelle joined the faculty of CDC after training with Anne Green Gilbert. At CDC she pursues her passion of working together with learning communities, young children, and families, to foster and enhance social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. In 2013 Kechelle founded Emerald City Creative Arts (ECCA) a unique program that specializes in providing quality experiences for young children using BCDE and BrainDance to provide movement enrichment in schools across the Greater Seattle area.
