Ballet technique becomes more complex at the barre and in the center. Dancers warm up with the BrainDance and explore the dance concepts, deepening their understanding of technique while developing artistry and self-expression. Choreography skill increases through collaboration and creating dances using choreographic forms and devices.

Creative Dance Center COVID-19 health and safety protocols include but are not limited to: masks required for students and guardians ages 2 and up, regardless of vaccination status, to enter the building, during class, and at drop off and pick up; required Assumption of Risk/Health Screening/Release of Liability Form must be filled out for all students before each session; only staff, faculty, and students are allowed to stay in the building during class; required vaccine verification form must be completed for all people age 12 and older who are entering the building; if you and/or your student age 12+ cannot provide proof of full vaccination, a negative COVID-19 lab administered test taken within 72 hours needs to be provided before entering the building (King County mandate). For a full list of Covid-19 protocols visit creativedance.org/classes-workshops/#covid-19.

  • Dance clothes such as leotards, tights, leggings, dance skirts/shorts worn over leotard and tights, sweatpants, shorts. Hair should be pulled back from the face. Ballet shoes required.
Goetz, Terry

Terry Goetz (she/her) is Director of the Creative Dance Center. She began training intensively with Anne Green Gilbert in 1997 and joined the CDC faculty in 2000. A former member of Pacific Northwest Ballet (1988-1995) and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (1986-1988), she performed works by Balanchine, Taylor, Limón, Lubovitch, Dendy, Cunningham, Naharin, Petipa, and Bournonville, as well as full-length classical works. Along with teaching dance across ages and genres at CDC, Terry presents workshops locally, nationally, and internationally in BrainDance and Brain-Compatible Dance Education. Since 2016, she and colleague Anna Mansbridge co-direct the Refresher Course of the CDC Summer Dance Institute for Teachers. Terry was named Washington State Dance Educator of the Year in 2015.
