Understanding deepens as connections are made between the BrainDance patterns and modern dance technique. Dancers explore the body’s relationship to Space, Time & Force through complex improvisations, floor work, & movement sequences. Choreographic prompts encourage collaboration & creativity. Dancers analyze choreography and share feedback, strengthening dance literacy & communication skills.

Note: This class will run 4:30-6:15 on the third Thursday of each month to clear the space for Haller Lake Community Club as part of our tenant agreement. The price has been adjusted accordingly. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Dress for comfort and ease of movement. Dance clothes such as leotards, footless tights, sweatpants/shorts, leggings, stretch pants, t-shirts, dance skirts, etc. Hair should be pulled back from the face. Students dance in bare feet.
Caplan, Sara

Sara Caplan (she/her) is a contemporary dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist originally from Dedham, MA. She received her BA Theatre: Dance Performance and her BS in Biology from The Pennsylvania State University in 2013 and her MFA in Dance from the College at Brockport in 2017. She has performed in works choreographed by Kendra Portier, Laura Petersen (NY), Maura Keefe, and Beth Gill. Since moving to Seattle Sara has performed in Soft Concrete III, Velocity’s Bridge Project, and Full Tilt. She has presented works in various theatres and urban venues in Pennsylvania and New York as well as in Seattle. Sara has 10 years of experience teaching in studio and has taught at the Pennsylvania State University, The College at Brockport, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and Slippery Rock University.
