Limón-Inspired Modern Dance
Workshop | Available
In this class participants will explore the foundational concepts of José Limón's modern dance style. Breath and gravity will be our guides as we discover the expressive potential of our bodies. Class begins with an improvisatory warm-up followed by short phrases standing in the center and then traveling across the floor. Along the way, we’ll explore the history behind the movement and connect the past to the present. Some hallmarks of this style are musicality, weighted grace, honoring the human experience, and a sense of play. Come experience the freedom, expression, and joy of moving in the Limón tradition!
Note:
Participants should bring a full water bottle and wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. We recommend dressing in layers during cold weather, as the temperature can fluctuate inside the studio. Our Spotlight Series welcomes youth Grades 7+ and adult dancers with intermediate experience to learn from guest artists sharing their artistry and expertise.
