A mandala is a circular pattern of geometrically divided spaces, often with the addition of symbols. We will start with a simple design, then go on to more complex use of colors and designs, to create your own unique and colorful patterns.

- Materials needed for Mandalas:
Pad of drawing paper - semi heavy
Colored pencils & watercolor pencils
Ruler with centimeter increments
Protractor
Compass
Ultra fine black sharpie
Fine black sharpie
Scissors
Pencil & pencil sharpener
Gray kneaded eraser
2 watercolor brushes - one very fine, one fine
Small dish for water
Oval & or circle templates - optional (if you have them!)
Colette Roach
Colette Roach is a retired special education team member in the Berea City School system and a former Pre-K teacher. Her degree is in Early Childhood Ed. as well as a post-degree program in Art Therapy through Ursuline College. She taught Pre-K before working with all ages in special ed. Colette was also a part time cake decorator at a local Dairy Queen for 24 years. She has designed and implemented several different art projects with children, as well as her own individual pursuits. Designing mandalas and the use of color became an artistic outlet for the students and herself - a creative way of expression in a simple, relaxing, personal art form that she enjoys sharing with others.
