Need some more laughter in your life? Then join us for an exploration of the silent comedy era, a foundational period in film history distinguished by its reliance on visual storytelling, physical humor and innovative cinematic techniques. We will screen films from iconic figures like Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Mack Sennett and Harold Lloyd, as well as some lesser-known comedians. Despite originating over a century ago, silent comedies continue to demonstrate the enduring universality of humor and its capacity to transcend time and culture.
Aaron Spears
Aaron Spears earned a Bachelor’s degree in Film History from Wright State University and a Master’s in Library Science from Kent State University. He spent 13 years managing the Cedar Lee Theater, seven years on the Selection Committee for the Cleveland International Film Festival and the past 35 years watching every film he could get his eyes on. He currently programs films for Kanopy.
