F25-17 Religious Faiths and Their Places of Worship - Part 1 NEW

Part 1 classes will be about three religions originating in Asia, and we will visit their places of worship. They include Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and/or Sikhism (TBD).
The first class of each religion will concentrate on learning about the basic beliefs (at Strongsville Fire Station), while the second session will be a “field trip” to visit the place of worship for that religion. For example, on the first week we learn about Hinduism and then the second week we meet at the Hindu temple on Ridge Road in Parma. The other two religions will follow the same pattern.
Class members will be responsible for their own transportation to the various places of worship. SEE SPECIAL NOTES FOR VISITS and LOCATIONS
- The "instructional" (first) part of this class will always be at the Strongsville Fire Station, i.e., Sept 16, 30 and Oct 14. The second, fourth and sixth weeks will be held at the locations below:
Sept 23: Class visit to Hindu temple on State Road at 2:30 PM
Oct 7: Class visit to Buddhist temple (TBD) at 2:30 PM
Oct 21: Class visit to either Jain or Sikh temple (TBD) at 2:30 PM
NOTE class members will be responsible for their own transportation to the various places of worship.
Ken Neuzil
Ken Neuzil earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree from Kent State University. He taught social studies at the high school level for 38 years, specializing in world history. For several years he taught a class on Eastern cultures and was asked to create a course and develop the curriculum for a class in Great Religions and A History of Ethics, which is still being taught at the high school. After retiring in 2004, Ken taught a graduate-level class on literacy for Walsh University offered through Communicate Institute.
