This hands-on art class will explore creativity by focusing on the Circle. Each week highlights different art mediums and artistic exercises enabling you to explore your creative energies by using mandalas (Sanskrit for sacred circle) as the subject matter. We will reference the many ancient and modern forms of cultural mandalas, as we design our own through art activities that develop and enhance personal insights, creativity and mindfulness.
- Supplies needed:
A 9” x 12” sketchbook, heavier paper (90 lb wt) 20 or more pages, color markers and color pencils (1 set of each; sets are 12 or 24), 2 black sharpies (fine and ultra fine), pencil and eraser. Ruler and compass optional. Please bring all to first class.
Suzanne Halstead
Suzanne Halstead has an MA in education from Concordia University and a BFA in studio arts and art education from Syracuse University. She is an artist, educator and museum professional, having taught art in public schools, colleges, galleries, studios and museums throughout her career. She has worked extensively in many cultural and museum environments as an educator and exhibits and program developer. Suzanne believes in enabling and empowering others so each may find and explore his or her own creative energies.
