Billy Joel, Elton John and Barry Manilow are three musical artists that have inspired me to do what I do -- write music, sing and play the piano. In the 1970's and 1980's, I was very impressionable, and the music from these "Piano Men" changed the course of my life.
For six weeks, I will share their lives, their stories and perform their music. Note: At each class, you will hear music from each artist.
Carl Fernstrum
Carl Fernstrum is the Director of Worship at Strongsville United Methodist Church. He received his B.A. in Music from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) and his M.M. in Voice Performance from University of Akron (Akron, OH). He has taught classes for the ILR since 2010. Carl has been the Opening Act for Bobby Short (from the Cafe Carlyle in NYC) and warmed up for Ella Fitzgerald at the Music Hall in Detroit, MI.
