The History of Trade will show a progression from early regional exchange of goods in the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods to complex global networks connected by major trade routes like the Silk Road and later, the incorporation of the Americas. Influenced by economic, technological and political factors, trade evolved from barter systems to modern international commerce.
