S26-15 Amazing Trees REPEAT from Fall '25

Class | Registration opens 3/8/2026 9:00 AM EST

More than you thought you knew about trees! Topics to explore will include: where trees live around the world and why; history of trees throughout time and in our area; how trees affect our environment; what goes on inside a tree; products we get from trees as well as how trees affect us through literature, art and spiritual traditions.

Mare Matthews

Mare Matthews’ lifelong love of trees began among the oaks of Lakewood. She surprised her dad when she rejected one college campus because …"there aren’t any trees.” She earned a degree in Natural Resources with a major in Forest Management from The Ohio State University (which had sufficient trees), then worked for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources before turning to teaching science. Mare is eager to share her love and knowledge of trees with the ILR community.
