Class | Registration opens 3/8/2026 9:00 AM EST
Positive psychology is the study of the factors that enable individuals and communities to thrive. Historically, psychology's focus has been on mental illness and personal dysfunction. Positive psychology emerged in the 1990s and it emphasizes human strengths, virtues and the conditions that lead to a fulfilling and meaningful life. This class will use techniques like values examination, gratitude, resilience building, meaningful engagement and social connection. The key tools such as life review, goal setting, cognitive vitality and general health strategies will guide us in making the most of our later life, shifting focus from decline to growth. A shared goal of the class will be to explore how we foster flourishing within ourselves and our communities.
