This class will cover the following topics:

  • The fall of the Roman Empire and its effects on Western Europe
  • Daily life in the Middle Ages
  • The power of and challenges to the church
  • The rise of towns
  • The disasters of the 14th century
  • The intellectual history of the period and the rise of monarchies

As much as possible, we will refer to original sources.

Ken Neuzil

Picture of Ken Neuzil Ken Neuzil earned his BA and MA degrees at Kent State University. He taught classes in social science at the high school level for 38 years and specialized in world history. For several years, he taught a class on Eastern Cultures and also created a course on Great Religions and A History of Ethics, which is still being taught at the high school. After retiring in 2004, Ken taught a graduate level on literacy for Walsh University.
