Class | Registration opens 8/16/2026 9:00 AM EDT
Specific cases we will discuss:
Chatrie v US - This case focuses on the government using geo-fencing to locate and then arrest suspects. We will look back on this topic and where we are now.
Dobbs v Jackson Women's Health Organization - This is the case that overturned Roe v Wade. Where do we stand now that the Supreme Court has sent the issue back to the states?
Louisiana v Callis - Many states are opting to redistrict as a result of this case. Where does Ohio stand on redistricting?
Ohio legislation on Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) has been debated for years and will likely be brought up again in the fall. Has something changed to affect the legislative outcome?
First Choice Women's Reproductive Center v Davenport -This is NOT a reproductive rights case, but rather is centered on the First Amendment right to assemble and contribute anonymously without government knowledge. This was a unanimous 2026 decision.
McGirt v Oklahoma -This is a Fourth Amendment case focused on the rights of Native Americans regarding conflicts between tribal law and civilian law enforcement incidents as they pertain to trial issues and potential punishments.
The six weeks will also focus on cases currently in the news and the outcomes that will affect us all now and in the future.
