This course consists of a series of vignettes dealing with topical aspects of energy. We will discuss energy issues that we hear debated every day in the news, issues that will soon have a serious impact on our personal lives. Each vignette is designed to stand alone and will bring its particular focus alive with interesting historical perspectives. Historical and colorful photographic images, as well as easily understood charts will accompany each vignette.
Joseph P. Reardon
Joseph P. Reardon, Ph.D., of Fairview Park, Ohio, grew up in Cambridge, Ohio, and developed an early interest in science that led him to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He later received both his master’s and doctoral degrees in physical chemistry from The American University in Washington, D.C. Throughout his career, Dr. Reardon has worked as a high school teacher, chemical researcher and practicing materials scientist. His professional expertise includes high-temperature composites, the manufacture of carbon and carbon/carbon materials and protective armor technologies.
