Class | Registration opens 12/6/2026 9:00 AM EDT
A movie’s music can have a significant impact on how we view a film’s characters and its stories. Effective use of music can also transform a film into a memorable cinematic experience, as we will learn when we view and discuss the following three films:
- Casablanca (1942) with its emotional "duel of the anthems" at Rick’s Café
- The Third Man (1949) with Anton Karas’ zither evoking the atonal ambiguity of post-war Vienna
- The Graduate (1967) with songs by Simon and Garfunkel providing clues to the mixed-up mind of the title character
