An Introduction to Sustainable Seafood and Ocean Conservation

In this lecture we'll explore the environmental and social impacts of seafood production and the challenges facing global fish stocks. This session will also introduce the Sensible Seafood Program, run by the Virginia Aquarium, which promotes responsible seafood choices to support healthy marine ecosystems. You will leave this class with a better idea of how you can help our oceans have a more sustainable future!

Christiana Veirs

Christiana Veirs graduated from the University of Maryland in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy. She has a decade of experience working with several prominent environmental organizations and aquariums, including the National Aquarium, Nature Forward (formerly the Audubon Naturalist Society), and the Virginia Aquarium. Christiana currently works as the Aquarium's Sensible Seafood Program Coordinator, combining her passion for environmental education with her commitment to inspire people of all ages to appreciate and protect our incredible local environment.
