American Militia

Class - In Person & Zoom | Available (Membership Required)

American Militia - all able-bodied white men between the ages of 16 and 60 - comprised the first military units to fight for American Independence during our Revolutionary War. How were they established? Were they integrated with non-white members? How well were they trained? Were they professional soldiers or part-time volunteers? When did they report for duty? Were they all "Minute Men?" What roles did they play during the conflict and through the war years? Were they an effective fighting force? In which major battles did they participate? All these questions will be addressed in this class.
