All Aboard: The History of Trains in Virginia

The westward expansion of America was led by the advent of railroads. Virginia's Tidewater, Piedmont and mountain areas forged a common economic and political union by this new mode of transportation. From his years as a hobbyist and railroad aficionado, the speaker will acquaint us with the how's, why's, when's, where's, and whistles as Virginia Progressed from water-based transportation to using steel rails.
Fred Humphrey
Fred Humphrey has been a train enthusiast since childhood. His father worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in the 1940s. After Fred's retirement from the Navy in 2010, he worked for H&R Block tax service. He then joined the Tidewater Modular Railroad Club in 2013 and later served as Superintendent of the National Model Railroad Mideastern Division. For the past four years he has been President of the Model Railroad Museum of Hampton Roads located in MacArthur Center in Norfolk.
