St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Grounds
201 St. Paul's Blvd., Norfolk
Friday, May 8, 2026

In keeping with the 250th birthday of our nation, put on your tricorn hat, and visit St. Paul's Church, one of the oldest buildings in Norfolk. Originally founded in 1639, it is one of the few colonial-era structures to survive the burning of Norfolk in 1776. It continues today to serve as a house of worship.

The church historian will reveal St., Paul's colorful and interesting history as we tour the interior and exterior grounds. Notably, in 1964 General Douglas MacArthur's funeral service was held here. One of the highlights is the revolutionary cannonball, allegedly fired by Lord Dunmore's British fleet, wedged in the Church's southeastern wall. The church garden has tombstones dating back to the 17th century.

Following the tour, lunch is optional at the historic Freemason Abbey Restaurant, a short drive to 209 W. Freemason Street. (separate checks)
