Rocks on Vacation

Class - In Person & Zoom | Available (Membership Required)

Conversations during this session will welcome questions you remember from your vacations to geologically interesting locations. Answers provided will probably involve aspects of Plate Tectonics and The Rock Cycle. Forgotten your questions? Come hear what a geologist found interesting on Family vacations near beaches and volcanoes.

Richard Whittecar

Dr. Rich Whittecar is a retired ODU Geology professor (aka a Tar Heel) with rocks in his head. He says that for more then 50 years friends have told him, "I was just on vacation and saw the most incredible (rock, mountain, canyon, etc.) and said I wish Rich was here to tell me about it!" For 40 years at ODU, Rich taught how Earth's landscapes evolved over the past 10 million years and published research results from Virginia and North Carolina on that topic.
