Current Trends in Health Care in the United States

The United States health care system has been evolving. This class will discuss the effect of
changing demographics and the Covid 19 pandemic, as well as the three major factors influencing current health
care trends: changes in the healthcare workforce of physicians and physician extenders, the increasing use of
artificial intelligence, and the increasing role of private equity in our health care system.
Ganapathy Bala
Dr. Ganapathy Bala is a retired physician with 45 years of experience in Allergy Immunology and
Pediatrics primarily in the United States, but also in the United Kingdom and India. He is currently a Fellow of the
American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and was Board certified in both Allergy Immunology and
Pediatrics during his career. He holds a diploma in Child Health from Ireland and India. He was a member of the
Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom during his time there.
