Coastal Virginia Sea Level Rise

With the highest rate of sea level rise on the Atlantic Coast, Coastal Virginia/Hampton Roads is
seeing what the rest of the East Coast will see in the coming years. This class provides an overview of the causes
and impacts of sea level rise on our region, the responses taking place, and the future conditions we suspect.

William (Skip) Stiles, Jr.

William A. (Skip) Stiles is a senior advisor and former Executive Director of Wetlands Watch, a state-
wide non-profit environmental group based in Norfolk. He has been involved in sea level adaptation work at the
community level for over 18 years. He served on the Virginia Climate Change Commission in 2008. He is a
recipient of the Erchul Environmental Leadership Award and a graduate of the College of William and Mary.
