Wildlife Rehabilitation with Nature's Nanny
Class - In Person Only | Available (Membership Required)
Participants will meet a selection of non-releasable ambassador birds cared for by Nature’s
Nanny Wildlife Rehabilitation. Presenter/handlers will tell the story of how each came to be a resident of Nature’s
Nanny and how their species shines out in the wild. Participants will learn what hardships local Virginia wildlife
face every day and discover how to alleviate some of them. All participants will receive a card or pamphlet with
contact information for NNWR, and instructions for what to do if they come across sick or injured wildlife.
Dana Lusher
Dana Lusher, founder of NNWR, and a small group of volunteers with permitting through the Virginia
Department of Wildlife Resources to educate the public about native wildlife. These volunteers dedicate many
hours to learning about the animals, forming bonds with each individual ambassador, and keeping up to date with
the latest science. Many also take weekly husbandry shifts to feed, prep diets, clean enclosures, do laundry, and
much more. Volunteers are the heart, soul, and backbone of Nature’s Nanny.
