Enjoy the warm holiday spirit at the Chrysler Museum and the beautiful Constellations Exhibit, on loan from the Dallas Museum of Art. The Dallas Museum Is renowned for its contemporary jewelry collection and this is the first time the Dallas Museum has traveled with Constellations. This exhibit features 350 works of wearable art. It explores reimagined jewelry in a range of materials, forms and ideas from golden crowns formed to look like cardboard, necklaces made from plastic bags and whimsical broaches resembling toast. With over 250 artists from 41 countries, the exhibition is presented in four thematic Constellations that draw connections between the work and how artists have expressed concepts of their time. The groupings are “Zones of the Body”, “Archetypes”, “Signals” and “Play.” These groupings help navigate paths through the diverse pieces on view. Each is a case study into an artist or form. An additional section covers the collection evolution from initial acquisition in 1950 to newly commissioned works of art. Constellations is a fresh perspective on contemporary jewelry as intimate adornment and artistic statement.
