This course begins in 260 BCE with the diplomatic and military activities that resulted in China's first dynasty.. The very short period of rule by the Qin emperor was followed by the long founding Han Dynasty. The first seminar is followed by meetings that focus on the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and finally the Qing that ended dynastic rule with the 1911 Revolution. In addition to examining how these key dynasties came to power and their rulers. The seminar also discusses the geography, art, and cultural highlights of each era.
