This session will explore the artwork of Rene Lalique (1860-1945) and Dale Chihuly (1941-present) located in the Glass Pavilion in The Toledo Museum of Art and other locations. Both artists employed unusual and innovative combinations of various glass working techniques that influenced glass artists in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Dr. David Guip is an Emeritus Professor of Art and Art History in the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Toledo and past Chairman of the Department of Art. He is a Master Docent at the Toledo Museum of Art conducting tours and Gallery Groups of adults focusing on advanced study of exhibitions and the permanent collections. In addition he was the recipient of National Endowment of the Humanities Fellow in African Art and an Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Toledo, where he has taught courses in the Ethnographic Art.
