Enjoy a beautiful day outdoors at the stunning Schedel Arboretum & Gardens in Elmore, Ohio. With a mission of offering opportunities for the study and appreciation of nature and the arts, this trip is perfect for nature- and art-lovers alike. In addition to many unusual and exotic species of trees and upwards of 8,000 annual plants and flowers, the Schedel Arboretum & Gardens maintains several themed garden displays where one will find unique presentations of plants and hardscapes designed to enhance the experience of appreciating nature, including a traditional Japanese garden with torii gate, a rose garden, a tropical garden, a world class bonsai collection, and more.

First, we’ll take a guided tour on golf carts to learn about the history, plants, and art of the gardens. Then, we’ll meet with a bonsai expert to learn all about these unique trees. Finally, we’ll visit the Blair Museum of Lithophanes on site, featuring the largest collection of lithophanes in the world. Lithophanes are fine carvings made in wax and dye, then cast with thin layers of porcelain. Once backlit, the result is a luminous, sepia-toned etching.

Upon wrapping up our fascinating tour, we will be treated to an al fresco lunch of sandwiches, pasta salad, chips, cookies, and beverages.
