Travel nearly 300 years of Northwest Ohio history on this fascinating tour following the winding course of the Maumee River from downtown Toledo to Grand Rapids and back. Guided by local historian and author Tedd Long, you'll discover how the river shaped the region’s Native American heritage, military conflicts, early settlements, transportation networks, industry, and communities that grew along its banks.

Using engaging storytelling, this four-hour tour transforms an ordinary drive into a moving history experience. Along the route, you'll visit some of the region’s most significant landmarks, including Fort Miami, Fallen Timbers, Fort Meigs, Roche de Bout, Providence, the Weirs Rapids, Perrysburg, and Toledo’s historic riverfront neighborhoods. Along the way, you'll hear stories of Native American leaders, soldiers, pioneers, entrepreneurs, and everyday citizens whose lives were intertwined with the Maumee River.
